PLEASE CONTINUE TO DONATE TO THE SAN MATEO COUNTY STRONG FUND DURING THIS TIME OF NEED

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors launched The San Mateo County Strong Fund so everyone can help those impacted by COVID-19 and do so with confidence.  At SMCSTRONG.ORG, you can choose to donate to help individuals/families, small businesses, non-profits or wherever the need is greatest.  There also is a comprehensive list of COVID-19 Local Resources for residents, businesses and organizations in San Mateo County to access. 100% of donations to The San Mateo County Strong Fund will stay in San Mateo County.  Your tax-deductible donation will help:

  • Individuals/Families cover basic household expenses

  • Small Local Businesses avoid layoffs and stay open or reopen once feasible

  • Non-Profits provide services to our most vulnerable populations like seniors, homeless individuals or people with disabilities

The San Mateo County Strong Fund is being administered in partnership with the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, the largest community foundation in the nation. Please consider making a donation today at SMCSTRONG.org and sharing this email broadly with your friends, neighbors, networks and on social media.  Together, we are #SMCSTRONG.

MOTHERS DAY DRIVE FOR SAMARITAN HOUSE

Samaritan House is leading the fight against poverty in San Mateo County.  During the COVID-19 pandemic, collecting essentials for babies is a high priority.  Please consider donating formula, baby food, diapers and wet wipes directly to Samaritan House or joining your Baywood and San Mateo neighbors in collecting needed supplies that will be delivered to Samaritan House on Saturday, May 9th at 10am, in honor of Mother's Day.  Please see above or email lisa@lisaforsanmateo.com for details. Please note that Samaritan House and BOIA have no official connection with the organizer of this Mother's Day baby essentials drive.  100% of all items collected will be donated to Samaritan House.

NEIGHBORS PITCH IN TO KEEP BAYWOOD BEAUTIFUL!

"It takes neighbors to raise a neighborhood!"

Inspired by the traditional African proverb, "It takes a village to raise a child," we are continually surprised and pleased by the efforts that individual Baywood neighbors take to help keep Baywood looking its best.  Our latest shout out goes to Kim Randick and Duke Williams who are the unofficial "keepers" of the island at the intersection of Kentucky and Nevada.  The City of San Mateo recently planted a young live oak on the island to replace one that had died.  Young trees need a lot of water.  Kim and Duke  volunteered and are doing a great job nurturing the young tree, as well as weeding the island.  BOIA provided them with a City-approved bucket to promote deep root watering.  We hope Baywood residents will enjoy the tree and the island for years to come.  Thanks, Kim and Duke!

San Mateo City Newsletter The City of San Mateo has a City-wide eNewsletter where you can find information about upcoming activities, events, projects, initiatives and more.  Brought to you from the City Manager's Office, this newsletter includes information from the Community Development, Fire, Library, Parks and Recreation, Police and Public Works departments. Please visit the email notification page to sign up for future newsletters.  Check out the latest City newsletter here.

ABOUT BAYWOOD OWNERS IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION (BOIA)

Love your Baywood neighborhood?  Want to get to know your neighbors and make Baywood an even better place to live?  Please consider joining the BOIA Board.  We are a small group with big plans for Baywood!

Whether you’re interested in some of our Beautification projects (e.g. Best of Baywood), would like to organize neighborhood get-togethers like our Baywood Social, or would like to help represent Baywood to other neighborhoods and City government departments, we would love to have you join us.

BOIA also has an important information distribution role during times like our COVID-19 Shelter In Place to help ensure all our neighbors are safe.

Our BOIA Board meets the second Tuesday of every month, 7:30pm-9:00pm. We welcome any interested Baywood resident to come to one of our meetings to see what we're up to and share your ideas for how to make Baywood the best neighborhood. We will meet virtually during our Shelter in Place period. Please contact Michael Nash at baywoodhomeowners@gmail.com or 650.400.6274. Thank you to everyone who has paid their annual BOIA dues to help pay for the fun activities you read about in the Baywood Bulletin.  There are three levels of dues: Gold: $130; Silver: $80 and Basic: $30.  If you haven't had a chance to pay your dues yet, we would be grateful if you could send your cheque to: Baywood Owners Improvement Association PO Box 349 San Mateo, CA 94401-0349
